GMC offers a solid lineup of SUVs in Sherman, TX, from the iconic Yukon XL to the GMC Hummer EV SUV. Whether you are looking for a full-size SUV to carry the whole family or a tech-filled EV, GMC SUVs have something to offer.
GMC Hummer EV SUV
What is there to say about the Hummer EV SUV besides wow? This is a real off-road machine with 13 inches of suspension travel and 16 inches of ground clearance. CrabWalk only furthers to enhance that off-road ability. And thanks to four-wheel steering, the Hummer EV SUV can turn around in only 35.4 feet of space, better than many much smaller vehicles.
Off-road ability isn't the only stunning feature of the Hummer EV SUV. Powered by either two or three electric motors, the Hummer EV SUV has a lot of power. According to GM, the two-motor version produces 635 horsepower and 7,400 pound-feet of torque. The three-motor model produces 830 horsepower and an insane 11,500 pound-feet of torque, according to GM.
With all that power, this box-shaped beast still has excellent range. With the ability to travel 314 miles on a charge on its 170-kWh battery pack, the Hummer EV SUV is a great road trip vehicle. You can also gain up to 100 miles of range in 14 minutes using DC fast charging, which is a good measure for pit stops.
The interior of the Hummer EV SUV is like riding in a spaceship. Part of that feeling comes from including rugged, functional buttons and switches that harken back to a Saturn Five Command Module. Interior refinements like stitched leather trim and bronze accents are available on higher trims, fitting the luxury price tag of the Hummer EV SUV. The removable roof, named the Infinity Roof, consists of four removable glass panels, along with the I-bar above the front row. There is an impressive 36 cubic feet of room for cargo, 82 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. And because it's an EV, the front truck offers an additional 11 cubic feet of storage for drivers in Denison, TX.
GMC Yukon and Yukon XL
While it is no secret that the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL are siblings of the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, the GMC renditions are a step up in styling. While they share many of the same parts, the Yukon siblings offer enough technological upgrades and comfort to justify the price increase and different names. The same goes for the Cadillac Escalade, the ultra-luxury sibling in the family. The Yukon and the Yukon XL now feature an independent rear suspension, offering a much softer ride and better handling than previous years' solid rear axle. Not only does this work well on the roads of Frisco, TX, but it also improves off-road handling, offering a more stable platform for those inside.
Three engine options are available for the Yukon and the Yukon XL, with only two available on any given trim. For the Elevation and AT4 trims, a 5.3-liter V8 producing 355 horsepower is standard. A 6.2-liter V8 putting out 420 horsepower is standard on the Denali and Denali Ultimate. The 3.0-liter I6 diesel is available on all trims and makes 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque. If you plan to tow with your Yukon or Yukon XL, the 5.3-liter engine can pull 8,400 pounds. The 6.2-liter and the diesel can handle 8,200 pounds.
Both versions of the Yukon offer seating for up to eight in three rows. The Yukon offers 25.5 cubic feet of space for cargo with all the rows up, while the Yukon XL bumps that to 41.5 cubic feet. Folding all the rows down essentially makes these into pickup trucks as far as what you can stow inside the hanger-like interior.
GMC Terrain
While the 2025 Terrain has yet to be released in McKinney, TX, it will be a new generation for the compact SUV. Options are limited for the first model year of the new generation, offering only the Elevation trim. Although the Elevation trim does come rather well-equipped. Featuring a 15-inch infotainment screen along with heated front seats and adaptive cruise control, the Terrain will be a delight to drive.
The Terrain will be powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter I4, producing 175 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque. While nowhere near the insane numbers of the Hummer EV SUV, the Terrain is very well suited to exploring the urban jungle.
Expect a suite of driver assistance features like cyclist detection, automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts.
